Fall colors in Red River New Mexico

When the summer travel season ends and throngs of tourists head back home to work and school, the fall season brings Red River cool, crisp mountain air, vibrant colors and an easy pace in which to explore the Red River New Mexico landscape.  As autumn leaves change color, hikers, bikers and road trippers come to Red River New Mexico to welcome the new season.

September 12th - 32nd annual Enchanted Circle Century Tour

Take a 25 mile, 50 mile, or 100 mile bicycle tour. This is a scenic, high altitude alpine ride through the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains of the Carson National Forest. The ride takes you through historic Taos, and alongside two of New Mexico’s newest state parks - The Vietnam Memorial & Eagle Nest Lake, as well as challenging you to take on Palo Flechado Pass & Bobcat Pass.

September 13th - 20th Annual Top of the World Mountain Bike Race

5 1/2 mile mountain bike race at the Red River NM Cross Country Ski Area.

September 18th - 20th Aspencade-Arts and Crafts Fair

Enjoy a fall Arts and Crafts Fair.  Red River's Aspencade is one of the best arts & craft shows in northern New Mexico!  There will be many artists from around the country as well as plenty of  food available,  including roasted corn, turkey legs, burgers and shrimp on a stick.   Enjoy the many great live music performances including Philip Brooks and the Hwy 38 Houndogs.  Children can enjoy a sculpture painting contest on Saturday.

Try your luck in the Red River Commerce's fundraising raffle for a Yamaha Rhino with trailer, $1,000 Cash, 48" Philips Flat Screen TV or a Nintendo Wii.

October 2nd- 4th- 3rd Annual Days of 1895

Come to “Days of 1895,” the founding days of Red River. Experience the taste, site and sound of the old west. Red River’s scenic atmosphere will capture the authenticity of this highly educational event. There will be plenty of music, food, and a multitude of demonstrations, there will be a fast draw tournament, horseshoe tournament, spaghetti western, and an old fashioned barn dance with a costume contest. Vendors will open at Friday, October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3rd at 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 4th at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

 

October 9-11 5th Annual Octoberfest

The second weekend in October is time for Red River's German style Octoberfest, one of the best in Northern New Mexico. Come enjoy fresh beer, food, and German Oompah music. Ja!

You can vote for your favorite brewery. There will be awards for the “Best Amber,” “Best Lager,” and “People’s Choice.” All of Red River is engulfed by the spirit of Oktoberfest with its wide array of fun activities.
